Why I Started My Studio: Creating Pieces Meant to Be Lived With for Generations

Every piece in my studio begins long before the clay is shaped. It begins with a belief that the things we choose to surround ourselves with matter.

Our homes are where quiet mornings begin, celebrations happen, and traditions are passed from one generation to the next. The objects we live with become part of those memories, which is why I believe they should be created with intention, care, and longevity in mind.

When I started AL Fine Art & Design, I knew I wanted to create more than beautiful home decor. I wanted to build a studio dedicated to craftsmanship, timeless design, and pieces that people could feel good about bringing into their homes.

Choosing Timeless Over Temporary

We live in a world where trends move quickly and many home accessories are designed to be replaced just as fast. I've always been drawn to a different approach.

Rather than creating pieces that follow the latest trend, I focus on beautiful forms, organic textures, and neutral palettes that feel at home year after year. My hope is that each vase, vessel, or decorative object remains just as meaningful years from now as it is the day it arrives in your home.

A well-made piece doesn't need to shout for attention. It effortlessly becomes part of the story of a space.

One of the values that guides every decision in my studio is creating pieces that are as thoughtful in their materials as they are in their design.

There is something special about knowing the hands that made an object.

Every curve is shaped with intention, every surface is carefully finished, and every piece reflects hours of craftsmanship that simply can't be replicated by mass production.

No two pieces are exactly alike, and I believe that's part of their beauty. Those subtle differences are reminders that each piece was created by a person, not a machine.

Pieces Meant to Be Passed Down

Some of my favorite possessions are the ones that have been handed down through generations. They carry stories, memories, and a sense of connection that only time can create. That idea inspires my work every day.

When someone brings one of my pieces into their home, I hope it becomes part of family dinners, holiday tables, everyday routines, and meaningful celebrations. My greatest hope is that years from now, it won't simply be known as a vase or a decorative object—it will be remembered as Grandma's favorite centerpiece, the vessel that sat on the mantel every Christmas, or the beautiful item that always welcomed guests into the entryway.

Those are the kinds of objects worth creating.

Building a Slower, More Intentional Way of Living

In many ways, this studio is an invitation to slow down. To choose fewer things, but choose them well. To appreciate craftsmanship over convenience. To fill our homes with objects that bring lasting joy rather than temporary excitement.

I believe the most beautiful homes are not just filled with nice things, they're the ones filled with meaningful items that create beautiful moments.
